Classic Wrestlers of the week #6 July30th-August 5th 2007

This entry is part [part not set] of 11 in the series Classic Wrestlers of the Week

Bonjour! This is week 6 of my hopefully long term series Wrestlers of the Week, Where I will be very bias every week and use these biases to decide who the best wrestler of the Cody Rhodes era

The Rules are simple
– The evaluation period start and ends on Monday every week (in 2007)
– The higher you rank the more points you get
– You must have won a match this week to be considered for the list.
–Tag teams are typically bunched together unless one is significantly more notable than the other
– The time period is 15 years ago to the day.

People who show up on this list spread across 6 different shows with only one of them being on multiple and they will be ranked on my personal enjoyment of the match (70%) and the significance of their victories (30%).

Just a reminder our current top 10 is

1) Takashi Sasaki 15
2) Bryan Danielson 13
3) Kurt Angle, Yuji Nagata, KENTA, Taiji Ishimori, Tetsuhiro Kuroda & Claudio Castangnoli 10
9) CIMA, Daisuke Sekimoto, Katsumasa Inoue, Mammoth Sasaki, Joker, Yoshihito Sasaki & El Generico 9

Honorable mentions!

Now lets get to the list!
Cody Rhodes (RAW)
Manabu Hara, Manabu Soya (Zero1)
Jimmy Wang Yang (Smackdown)
CM Punk (ECW)

10) Shayne Hawke (Chikara)

This is probably the most happy I’ll be on one of these lists because Shayne is genuinely one of the nicest people I know. So when he had a great match with Billy Roc I was so happy that I was able to squeeze him on this list. A funny match that also featured a lot of sick technical stuff. Hawke earns his first point of this series.

Points: 1

9) Christopher Daniels & Senshi (TNA)

The Triple X members earned 2 points this week by defeating Jay Lethal & Sonjay Dutt in a very fun 4 minute match on this weeks episode of TNA Impact. A great showing of what the X-Division had to offer at that time.

Points: Low Ki 2 & Daniels 4

8) Masaaki Mochizuki & Tatsuhito Takaiwa

Masaaki Mochizuki & Tatsuhito Takaiwa earned a spot on this list after an Great 6 man tag victory with their partner Dick Togo against Minoru Fujita, Munenori Sawa & Takuya Sugawara where Takaiwa showed once again why he’s one of my all time faves and Mochizuki proved he is great too

Points: 3 each

7) Ryouji Sai (Zero1)

Ryouji Sai earned a spot on this list with a incredible win over Shinjiro Otani & winning a 5 way elimination match for the right to face Masato Tanaka later that night in the finals of the Zero1 Fire Festival 2007. After a great match with Otani and the loss to Tanaka Sai balances out to 7th place and earns 4 points

Total Points: 4

6) Carlito (Raw)

Carlito earned a spot on this list by getting the huge upset victory over WWE champion John Cena in the main event of Raw this week after some help from Randy Orton. Once again proving that Carlito has John Cena’s number and helping Carlito move up the card

Total Points: 5

5) Sara Del Ray (Chikara)

Sara Del Ray earned a spot on this weeks list by having a great technical 2/3 falls match against Daize Haze at a Chikara show this weekend. Sara went in to this match 0-2 against Haze and left this match 2-3 against Daize opening room for a potential rematch down the line. Great wrestling and smart commentary gets Sara 6 points and as of right now becomes the first and only women to enter the top 10

Total Points: 9

4) Los Tres Deliriosos (Delirious, Cheech & Cloudy) (Chikara)

Los Tres Deliriosos earned a spot on this list by having an amazing 6 man tag team match against The Colony at this weekends Chikara show. A fantastic 6 way with innovative spots that I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever seen since. Highly recommend you go out of your way for this one.

Total Points: 7 each

3) Dick Togo (zero1)

Dick Togo earned a spot on this list by not only being in that awesome 6 man tag team man mentioned earlier in the list but also successfully defending his AWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship2) Masato Tanaka (Zero1) against Takuya Sugawara in a very good title defense. So a mix of 2 good matches and a successful title defense means that Dick Togo has earned 8 points this week

Total Points: 8

2) Masato Tanaka (Zero1)

Masato Tanaka earned a spot on this list by not only defeating Kohei Sato to earn his spot in the finals of the Fire Festival but also defeated Ryouji Sai to win the Fire Festival for the second year in a row. I will admit that his match with Sato was a bit underwhelming so it knocked him down from 1st to second after this next amazing performance

Total Points: 9

10) Aja Kong & Kyoko Kimura (SUN)

Aja Kong & Kyoko Kimura earned a spot on this list by winning 2 tag team matches. One was a squash and the other was an amazing bloodbath against Fuuka & Hikaru where Kyoko delivered some brutal ass kicks that caused Fuuka to bleed all over the place and make her look like a killer. By far my favorite match of the week.

Total Points: 10
