Classic Wrestlers of the week #10 August 27th-Septemper 2nd 2007

This entry is part [part not set] of 11 in the series Classic Wrestlers of the Week

Bonjour! This is week 9 of my hopefully long term series Wrestlers of the Week, Where I will be very bias every week and use these biases to decide who the best wrestler of the Cody Rhodes era

The Rules are simple
– The evaluation period start and ends on Monday every week (in 2007)
– The higher you rank the more points you get
– You must have won a match this week to be considered for the list.
–Tag teams are typically bunched together unless one is significantly more notable than the other
– The time period is 15 years ago to the day.

People who show up on this list spread across many different shows and they will be ranked on my personal enjoyment of the match (70%) and the significance of their victories (30%).

Just a reminder our current top 10 is

1) Takeshi Morishima 26
2) El Generico & Kevin Steen 18
4) Yuji Nagata, Chavo Guerrero, Bryan Danielson, Jaki Numazawa
8) Takashi Sasaki 15

10) Claudio Castangnoli & Eddie Kingston 12

Honorable mentions!

Matt Hardy & MVP earned a spot on this weeks list by defeating Deuce & Domino for the WWE Tag Team Championships on this weeks Smackdown. MVP became a double champion and Matt Hardy looks to take that away from MVP

9) Takeshi Morishima (Kensuke Office)

Takeshi Morishima earned a spot on this weeks list by succsessfully defending his ROH championship in japan in the main event of the Kensuke Office show in a 20 minute match against Katsuhiko Nakajima in a nice showcase of what the future star Nakajima can do.

Points: 28 (First Place)

8) Jaki Numazawa & Jun Kasai (BJW)

Jaki Numazawa & Jun Kasai earned a spot on this weeks list by having a great match against Saburo Inematsu & Takashi Sasaki in the main event of BJW on Samurai tv in a Fluorescent Light Tubes Dedication Death Match.

7) Alex Shelley (PWG)

Alex Shelley earned a spot on this weeks list by making it to the semi finals of PWG BOLA 2007 after defeating Tyler Black & Matt Sydal in both pretty good matches. The first taste of excellence from Alex Shelley in the project. I’m excited to see a lot more of him in the future

Points: 4 (67th place)

6) Nigel McGuinness (PWG)

Nigel McGuinness also earned a spot on this weeks list by making it to the semi finals of this weeks list. First by defeating Davey Richards in a great match then having a fucking weird but awesome match against the Necro Butcher where Nigel won. The first of many times I suspect seeing Nigel on this list

Points: 5 points (55th place)

5) Rey Mysterio (Smackdown)

Rey Mysterio earned a spot on this weeks list by not only defeating good friend Batista and then having a banger with FInlay to become #1 contender for The Great Khali’s world Heavyweight title.

Total Points: 8 (32nd place)

4) Pac (PWG)

After so many weeks of Pac putting other people on this list by having bangers with everyone he steps in the ring with but this weeks he gets a piece of the pie after making it to the semi finals of the PWG BOLA tournament. Pac first had a good match with Jack Evans then got a huge upset over Claudio Castagnoli before losing in the semi finals.

Total Points: 7 (41st place)

3) Roderick Strong (PWG)

Roderick Strong earned a spot on this by making it to the finals of the BOLA tournament. Roddy first defeated Austin Aries in a good match, then had a very boring match with Joey Ryan that was immediately redeemed by him having a banger with him having a great match with Alex Shelley that earned him a spot in the finals.

Total Points: 19 (3rd place)

2) El Generico (PWG)

El Generico earned a spot on this weeks spot by not only making it to the finals of the PWG BOLA by defeating Tony Kozina, Dragon Kid & Nigel McGuinness before losing in the finals but he also sucsessfully defended his PWG tag team championships alongside Kevin Steen against Dragon Kid & Susumu Yokosuka.

Total Points: 27 (2nd place)

1) CIMA (PWG)

Cima earned a spot on this PWG heavy list by winning this years BOLA by going through a very up and down lineup, Going through the awesome wrestler but horrible person Human Tornado, The same with his second round opponent SHINGO, Then went on to have a banger with PAC before defeating Roderick Strong & El Generico in the finals of this years BOLA

Total Points: 19 (3rd Place)
