Bonjour! This is week 2 of my new hopefully long term series Wrestlers of the Week, Where I will be very bias every week and use these biases to decide who the best wrestler of 15 years ago were!

The Rules are simple
The evaluation period start and ends on Monday every week (in 2007)
The higher you rank the more points you get
You must have won a match this week to be considered for the list.
Tag teams are typically bunched together unless one is significantly more notable than the other
The time period is 15 years ago to the day.

People who show up on this list spread across 6 different shows with only one of them being on multiple and they will be ranked on my personal enjoyment of the match (70%) and the significance of their victories (30%).

Honorable mentions!

I’ll be honest this was a weak ass week so there will be no Honorable Mentions

Just a reminder our current top 10 is

1) Kurt Angle 10
2) CIMA 9
3) Shingo Takagi 8
4) Chavo Guerrero 7
5) Rocky Romero 6
6) Koji Kanemoto 5
7) Munenori Sawa 4
8) Sara Del Ray 3
9) John Cena 2
10) Naoya Ogawa 1

Now lets get to the rankings!

10) Gail Kim (TNA)

Gail Kim earned a spot on this weeks list by having an average triple threat match victory against Jackie Moore and Ms. Brooks. This was definitely a showcase of how good the TNA Knockouts division would later become but this match itself was okay at best.

Total Points: 1

9) Super Crazy (RAW)

Super Crazy has earned a spot on this list by having the quickest match of the week defeating Mr. Kennedy
.
.
.
Kennedy
in a 7 second match to prevent Mr. Kennedy from getting a WWE title match. I’m hoping this leads to another singles match that gets a bit of time because Idk where this leads as I wasn’t watching at the time but I hope it leads to some bangers for Super Crazy.

Total Points: 2

8) Matt Hardy (Smackdown)

Matt Hardy earned a spot on this list by having a 19 minute victory over United States Champion MVP in the opener of Smackdown. A match that was a bit too long for my liking still had some decent phycology and fun spots.

Total Points: 3

7) Emi Sakura (Mr. Gannosuke Produce)

Emi Sakura earns a spot on this weeks list by standing out as the best member of a decent tag match where she teamed with Nayanko to defeat Lingerie Muto & Makoto. Nothing too special in the mtch itself but it was a very weak week and Emi outshined everyone around her.

Total Points: 4

6) Bobby Lashley (Raw)

Bobby Lashley earned a spot on this weeks list by defeating Shelton Benjamin with a cool ass spear in a short match that was tbh wasn’t much until the spear. Lashly also became #1 contender for John Cena’s WWE championship in the process.

Total Points: 5

5) Ryusuke Taguchi (NJPW)

Ryusuke Taguchi earned a spot on this list by winning the IWGP Jr Heavyweight Title by defeating Minoru during the NJPW 35th Anniversary tour. A 18 minute light banger sees Taguchi appear on this list as well as wins a singles title for the first time ever.

Total Points: 46

4) Takashi Sasaki & Yuko Miyamoto (BJW)

Takashi Sasaki & Yuko Miyamoto earned a spot on this list by having a very fun deathmatch against Isami Kodaka & Jun Kasai on BJW tv that featured a lot of blood and some pretty innovative spots for the time. The first tag team to get points on this list.

Total points: 7 (Each)

3) Team 3D (Brother Devon & Brother Ray) (TNA)

Team 3D earned a spot on this list by successfully defending their TNA Tag Team titles against Christopher Daniels & AJ Styles and LAX on TNA tv in a fantastic match. This match made Hernadez look like a star but had Team 3D come out on top and move on to face Samoa Joe & Kurt Angle at the ppv

Total Points: 8 (Each)

2) Daisuke Sekimoto, Katsumasa Inoue & Mammoth Sasaki (BJW)

Look I know this sounds like cheating just throwing 3 guys in at a time but they all teamed together in what was the best match of the week defeating Hi69, Kintaro Kanemura & Tetsuhiro Kuroda in an absolutely amazing match on BJW TV that featured all 6 men busting their ass to have the best match possible.

Total Points: 9 (Each)

1) Yuji Nagata (NJPW)

Yuji Nagata earned the top spot on this list by having a blood bath against Togi Makabe on the New Japan 35th anniversary to successfully defend his IWGP Heavyweight championship. Hard hitting back and fourth action with a lot of blood plus a major world title defense is enough to say that Yuji Nagata is this weeks wrestler of the week!

Total points: 10

MCW The House Always Wins Review

This weekend Melbourne City Wrestling ran their first event of 2023: MCW The House Always Wins! A night of wrestling action and… a lot of stuff? This is MCW’s first event since MCW 12 in November. The first thing I noticed watching this show is that the audio is significantly improved from MCW 12. Last show, the music overpowered the crowd and commentary. Crowd & commentary audio it was recorded in a Pringles can. The whole thing aspired to GCW level. Thank fuck that was fixed this time around. How is the show beyond the audio? Read on and find out!
