Classic Wrestlers of the week #7 August 6th-August 12th 2007

This entry is part [part not set] of 11 in the series Classic Wrestlers of the Week

Bonjour! This is week 7 of my hopefully long term series Wrestlers of the Week, Where I will be very bias every week and use these biases to decide who the best wrestler of the Cody Rhodes era

The Rules are simple
– The evaluation period start and ends on Monday every week (in 2007)
– The higher you rank the more points you get
– You must have won a match this week to be considered for the list.
–Tag teams are typically bunched together unless one is significantly more notable than the other
– The time period is 15 years ago to the day.

People who show up on this list spread across 11different shows and they will be ranked on my personal enjoyment of the match (70%) and the significance of their victories (30%).

Now lets get onto the list!

10) Kota Ibushi (DDT)

Probably the weirdest wrestler on this weeks list Ibushi didn’t have one special match but 5 good matches that were aired on this weeks DDT show on Samurai tv. First Ibushi dressed as Hulk Hogan defeated a man dressed as Stan Hansen with the most super leg drop ever, then he had a good match with Yukihiro Abe that they showed clips from then Ibushi won a Kota Ibushi rumble match defeating the likes of Lingerie Muto & I Am Motherfucking Chono Sanshiro, Then on the only not victory of the week Ibushi & KUDO went to a time limit draw in a tag team Kickboxing math that saw crowd brawling and throat punches and then Ibushi finished his night defeating Gota Ihashi in a fun match. Sadly all these matches were in clip form only but the achievement is too much to ignore and Ibushi gets 1 point this week.

Total Points: 1

Jaki Numazawa earned a spot this week by defeating Yuko Miyamoto in a great No Rope Barbed Wire Lighttube deathmatch on this weeks BJW Deathmatch Wars on Samurai TV One of the best of Big Japan matches so far in the watchalong. Total Points: 10

8) Kurt Angle (TNA)

Kurt Angle earned a spot on this list by beating Samoa Joe in the main event of Hard Justice. Probably the worst overall match of all the people that made it on the list this week sure but the achievement of winning the TNA Tag Tittle, TNA X-Division title as well as retaining the TNA Heavyweight championship & the IWGP Third Belt and getting his wife to kiss The Trademark!?!? Kurt Angle had to successful of an achievement to ignore Kurt get’s 3 points and moves up to second alongside Bryan Danielson

6) Shuji Kondo (El Dorado)

Shuji Kondo earned a spot on this weeks list by also having a great match on this weeks El Dorado event. This one being a singles match against Yasushi Tsujimoto in one of the most hard hitting matches of the whole week. Brutal chops and even stiffer lariats gets my favorite Junior Heavyweight 5 points this week!

5) Yuji Nagata (NJPW)

Yuji Nagata earns a spot on the list this week by having a great match against Shinsuke Nakamura that earned him a spot in the G1 finals that he eventually went on to lose in a good effort. Hiroshi Tanahashi earned a spot on this weeks list by winning the 2007 G1 Climax by first defeating Togi Makabe and then defeating Yuji Nagata in the finals of the prestigious tournament. 2) Steenerico (ROH)

El Generico & Kevin Steen earned a spot on the list this week by defeating the ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes twice. First in an amazing Street Fight main event where Generico & Steen fought The Briscoes all around the arena in a bloody brawl then in singles action where Generico beat Mark Briscoe in an amazing Falls Count Anywhere match and Steen beat Jay Briscoe in a good Lights Out match. Steenerico look to win the ROH tag team titles at the next ROH show. And Steen moves into the top 10 while Generico moves into first place
